Recommended Lenovo Systems

SCS Computing Facilities (SCSCF) has updated, supported configurations of Lenovo Thinkpad systems that address the common use cases within our user base. Configurations are structured as standard productivity and performance baseline recommendations.

Please note that these are general configurations to meet average use cases.  Please consider any special requirements in terms of cpu performance, storage capacity or memory requirements of specialized software or intended use. Some flexibility is possible regarding memory and storage in our configurations.

Please ensure your requested configuration considers your usage, storage and performance requirements as many computers now have permanent, soldered-in memory, storage and/or CPU components and it may not be possible to upgrade.

If you are ready to order this equipment, proceed to our online purchasing application.

If you have questions regarding configuration and specs, we are happy to provide consulting. Please request consulting and let us know what questions or concerns you have regarding your selected computer.

Lenovo Laptops (Windows only)

SCS Computing Facilities requires Lenovo Accidental Damage Protection coverage be included with any Lenovo computer purchase. Estimated price includes this coverage. See our warranty considerations for more information.

Warranty Considerations

SCSCF desktop computing technical staff are vendor certified to make hardware repairs on Apple, Dell and Lenovo equipment. This allows us to order parts for advance replacement and perform repairs on site.

All Lenovo computers should be purchased with a minimum of 3 years of Accidental Damage Protection coverage for Lenovo computers (if available).

WHAT’S TYPICALLY COVERED?

Accidental drops, spills, bumps, and structural failures incurred under normal operating conditions or handling, including electrical surges and damage to the integrated LCD screen.

Examples

  • Your system accidentally slips off the table and the LCD screen cracks
  • An electrical surge causes significant damage to your PC’s hardware during a lightning storm
  • The coffee spills on the keyboard and the extent of damage is unknown

WHAT’S NOT COVERED?

Cosmetic damage, equipment loss or failures due to usage outside of normal operating conditions. Any data loss or interruption of business, intentional damage and misuse, removal or alteration of parts, accessories, theft, damage from fires, damage to peripherals or third-party products, even if sold by Lenovo™.

Examples

  • The outer case cracks but your system still operates effectively
  • You’ve left your PC behind on the subway
  • The system is used in the rain, and you lose an entire day of productivity because your PC no longer functions
  • The stylus or battery is misplaced

Without Lenovo Accidental Damage Protection coverage, you will be responsible for the cost of the repair for these items regardless of warranty.
