Gates Hall will experience a planned power outage on Saturday, March 7 from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM while Facilities Management Services (FMS) installs a new breaker as part of broader power improvements to the Gates Data Center.

What to Expect

• Most offices and labs in Gates Hall (outside the Data Center) will lose power during this time.
• Equipment not connected to emergency backup power will turn off.
• Devices and systems may need to be manually powered back on after 3:00 PM.
• If you are unsure whether your equipment is on emergency power, please assume it will be affected.

What You Should Do

1.  Save your work before leaving on Friday, March 6.
2. Shut down computers and sensitive equipment in advance. 
3. Plan for systems located in Gates Hall (outside the Data Center) to be unavailable during the outage window. 

Gates Data Center (MR‑G)

The Gates Data Center (MR-G) will remain operational during this work because it is connected to emergency backup power. We do not expect any service interruptions and the Data Center will be closely monitored throughout the maintenance window.
