AFS Academic Volumes

What is an AFS academic volume?

AFS academic volumes are volumes in AFS that are independent of one’s user volume. Academic volumes are available for courses taught in the School of Computer Science. AFS academic volumes will have paths like:

/afs/cs.cmu.edu/academic/class/<course number>-<term and year>

For example, the academic volume for the course 15-213 as taught in the fall of 2018 would be located in:

/afs/cs.cmu.edu/academic/class/15213-f18/

The default quota for academic volumes is 1 GB. When requesting an AFS academic volume, you may request an initial quota of up to 25 GB. Additional space may be available upon request.

Requesting an AFS academic volume

To request an AFS academic volume, complete an AFS Academic Volume Request. Please submit requests for academic volumes at least one week in advance of when they are needed.
