macOS 10.09 Mavericks - End of Life

Support Ending December 31, 2019

Apple has announced the launch of its new operating system, macOS 10.15 Catalina in October 2019. In keeping with Apple's release cycle, macOS 10.09 Mavericks is no longer receiving security updates as of November of 2014.

Our latest fully-supported operating system is macOS Mojave (10.14).

Please note: At this time we do NOT recommend installing Catalina in either beta or final form until our testing is complete. Upgrading prematurely may result in a potential loss of data and performance as a result of incompatible applications. You can stay informed about the progress of our Catalina testing on our macOS Catalina support status page.

As a result, we are phasing out software support for all computers running macOS 10.09 Mavericks and will end support on December 31, 2019.

What do I need to do?

If you have an SCS-supported computer still running macOS 10.09 Mavericks, you have the following options:

Please note: if you choose not to upgrade your computer, it will not receive security patches or functionality updates and our ability to troubleshoot issues will be limited. SCSCF software support charges will be canceled automatically . Additionally, computers identified as security risks may be blocked from the CMU network by the Information Security Office (ISO).
