Critical macOS Updates

What do I need to do?

All SCS Macs receive updates which must be applied to appropriately patch the operating system. Your system will notify you if updates are available. Once installed, updates will not take effect until the system is restarted.

Please restart your Mac as soon as possible. If your system has not been updated, you can follow the steps below to update.

macOS Updates via Jamf Pro Management

  1. The "Management Action" window/panel will appear.
  2. Select "Start Now".
  3. Click "Submit".
  4. If no updates are available, no further messages will be shown.
  5. If an update was installed that requires a restart, you will be notified. Please restart immediately.
  6. If an update is installed that does not require restarting, no further action is needed.

macOS Sierra and High Sierra Updates

  1. Click on the Apple icon on the menu bar.
  2. Click on the "App Store".
  3. Select "Updates".
  4. Select "Update All".
  5. After the updates are installed, a reboot is required for updates to take effect.

macOS Mojave Updates

  1. Click on the Apple icon on the menu bar.
  2. Select System Preferences.
  3. Select Software Update.
  4. Install updates.
  5. After the updates are installed, a reboot is required for updates to take effect.

Please note: The Management Action panel will appear when Apple releases updates as part of the SCS managed Macintosh environment.  If you have already  installed them manually, it will simply find no updates and complete.
