Bio

Edward Walter is the Director of SCS Research Computing.

Ed brings over two decades of experience supporting research computing at Carnegie Mellon University. He’s designed and implemented scale-out services including high speed networks and distributed storage systems. He’s also architected and deployed modern HPC environments alongside SCS’s Unix Engineering team. Ed works effectively with engineers and researchers with a broad range of knowledge and experience, regardless of their familiarity with SCS’s local computing environment.

Before joining CMU, Ed spent more than a decade in scientific computing, where he conducted engineering studies evaluating vibration and noise exposure from industrial activities like blasting, mining, construction, and manufacturing.
