Printing on Linux/Unix hosts
SCS Computing Facilities provides support for private in-office printing (Windows, macOS and Linux), in addition to public printing for the SCS community. For SCS public printing queue information, visit the public printing page.
If you are attempting to configure SCS Public Printing on your personal or unsupported Linux computer, visit our configuration instructions page.
Supported Linux SCS Public print queue: lpr -P scs_public
When printing from a program, select the scs_public printer from the list of available printers.
Many Unix programs will look for a "PRINTER" environment variable when determining a default printer, and you may wish to set this variable in .profile
to a printer that is near you.
